The basis of Sakarya University, Faculty of Engineering is "Sakarya Engineering and Architecture College" which established related to National Education Ministry in 1970. The college which started education by registration of 160 students in Mechanical and Construction Departments had named as “Sakarya Government Engineering and Architecture Academy” in 1971 by the national law no. 1418. The “Academy” had changed to “Sakarya Engineering Faculty” which included in Istanbul Technical University in 1982 by the national law no. 2547. The Faculty, had been included to “Sakarya University” in 1992 by the national law no. 3837. “Food Engineering Department”, one of the 8 present deparments of the Faculty, was established in 1997. Our department has started its education by receiving 31 students depending on their results in OSS exam in 2006-2007 education period. The first graduates had been in 2009-2010 education period. Master programme had been started in 2008-2009 education period and the first graduates had been in 2009-2010. Food Engineering Department sustain its research and education facilities M1-4 buildings in Esentepe Campus in Sakarya University established near Lake Sapanca.
